good to know.
The salt, the bottles and the details before launch.
the salt & the bottles.
Why two salts?
Texture makes the difference. Coarse cooking salt dissolves into pasta water, sauces and simmering dishes. Fior di sale adds a delicate crunch when scattered over food just before serving. See them in use.
Where does the salt come from?
Our supplier sources salt from Trapani and Marsala in western Sicily. Final grades and production-lot provenance will be confirmed before launch.
How are the two salts made?
Cooking salt crystallizes as concentrated seawater evaporates in the salt ponds. Fior di sale forms a delicate layer at the surface and is collected by hand. Their different textures make one suited to cooking and the other to the final pinch.

The proposed pair brings together a 500 g bottle of coarse cooking salt and a 250 g bottle of fior di sale. Both are being designed to refill; final specifications will follow before launch.
Can I buy a bottle on its own?
Individual cooking bottles and finishing bottles are coming soon. You can see the individual products here.
When can I buy refills?
Refill cartons are in development: 500 g for Shake and 250 g for Flake, to match the proposed bottles. Launch timing and final details will follow. Ask about the launch.
Why the name Pink Bird?
Flamingos feed in the salt pans of Trapani. They were part of this landscape long before Pink Bird had a name.
